About Sepahijala Forest

Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary near Agartala is a small but scientifically important sanctuary that was originally established as a botanical garden and wildlife enclosure by the royal family of Tripura in the 1970s. The sanctuary's dense tropical moist semi-evergreen forest shelters clouded leopards and multiple primate species, and its natural lake and surrounding wetlands attract a variety of waterbirds. As one of Tripura's most accessible wildlife areas, Sepahijala is an important conservation education site.
