About Hemis

Hemis National Park is the largest national park in India and South Asia, covering a vast cold-desert plateau in eastern Ladakh at extreme altitude. The park is the most reliable place in the world to see the snow leopard, with winter months offering extraordinary sightings as the cats descend to lower altitudes following blue sheep herds. The famous Hemis Monastery, a 17th-century Tibetan Buddhist gem, sits at the park's edge.
