About Gir

Gir National Park is the last refuge of the Asiatic lion on earth, one of conservation's most extraordinary success stories. In 1900, only thirteen lions were believed to survive; today over 670 roam the Gir landscape. The dry deciduous forest has the unique character of Gujarat's Saurashtra peninsula, and lion sightings are reliable and spectacular.
