About the Honey Badger
The honey badger is legendary for its ferocious temperament and astonishing fearlessness — the Guinness Book of World Records has called it the world's most fearless animal. Documented attacking creatures many times its size including lions, buffaloes, and king cobras, the honey badger relies on its exceptionally thick, loose skin (which allows it to twist and bite even when held) and near-immunity to venom as its primary defences.
In India, honey badgers inhabit dry forests, scrubland, and rocky terrain across the country's drier regions. They are omnivores with an extraordinary diet that includes snake venom, bee stings, and porcupine quills without apparent ill effect. Their strong, curved claws can tear apart termite mounds and break open beehives. Despite their small size, honey badgers are apex scavengers in their niche — they will drive larger carnivores off kills and steal food from leopards without hesitation.
