About Murlen Rainforest
Murlen National Park in eastern Mizoram borders Myanmar and protects a high-altitude subtropical forest on the crest of the Mizo Hills that forms part of the larger Indo-Burmese biodiversity hotspot. The park's species community reflects its position at the junction of the Indian Himalayan and Southeast Asian biogeographic zones, with elements from both mixing in these mist-covered hills. The elusive clouded leopard is the park's signature predator, and the dawn calls of Hoolock gibbons are the defining sound of the forest.
