About Meghamalai Forest

Meghamalai, meaning 'Cloud Mountains', is a high-altitude wildlife sanctuary in Theni district where cardamom, tea, and coffee plantations share the hillsides with patches of pristine shola forest. The sanctuary forms an important corridor between the Periyar Tiger Reserve in Kerala and the Grizzled Squirrel Wildlife Sanctuary further south in Tamil Nadu. The landscape — with its rolling tea estates, misty peaks, and forested valleys — is among the most picturesque in the southern Ghats and has become a popular trekking destination.
