About Little Andaman Rainforest
Little Andaman Island is the ancestral homeland of the Onge people, one of India's most vulnerable indigenous tribes, and their forest reserves occupy the southern portion of the island. The Onge are one of the world's last Negrito populations, believed to be descendants of the first humans to migrate out of Africa. The island's tropical semi-evergreen forest is well-preserved and provides sustenance for the Onge's semi-nomadic forest lifestyle, which continues despite increasing contact with the outside world.
