About Kanger Valley Moist Evergreen Forest
Kanger Valley National Park in the heart of Bastar protects a unique mosaic of tropical moist deciduous and semi-evergreen forest overlying one of India's most spectacular underground karst landscapes. The Kotumsar Cave — over 330 metres deep and stretching for 1327 metres — is home to rare cave-adapted fish and invertebrates that have evolved in total darkness over millions of years. The park's moist forest sustains the Bastar hill myna, a critically endangered subspecies endemic to this very small region of India.
