About Eravikulam Forest
Eravikulam National Park on the Anamalai plateau hosts the world's largest population of the Nilgiri tahr, a wild mountain goat found only in the southern Western Ghats. The park's extraordinary Neelakurinji phenomenon — when Strobilanthes kunthiana shrubs carpet the hillsides in blue-purple flowers every twelve years (next in 2030) — creates one of the world's most spectacular botanical events. The park sits above the clouds for much of the year, with the Anamudi peak — the highest point in peninsular India at 2695 metres — forming its centrepiece.
