About Nanda Devi
Nanda Devi National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site encircling the Nanda Devi Sanctuary, a glacial basin ringed by peaks rising to 7816 metres — the highest in India. The park has been closed to visitors since 1983 to protect its fragile high-altitude ecosystem, making it one of the world's most pristine alpine wildernesses.
