About Galathea

Galathea National Park is a pristine coastal wilderness in southern Great Nicobar, named after the Galathea River. Its beaches are among the most important nesting grounds for Leatherback sea turtles in the Indian Ocean, with hundreds of nests recorded annually. Undisturbed mangrove networks and coral gardens make this one of India's most biodiverse marine-terrestrial interfaces.
