About Devkund Waterfall

Devkund Waterfall in the Raigad district is one of Maharashtra's finest trekking destinations — a 7-kilometre trek through pristine Western Ghats forest on the Kundalika River to a 80-metre plunge into a deep, jade-green pool of extraordinary clarity. The trail passes through a mixture of forest types, bamboo groves, and river crossings that become increasingly challenging in the monsoon, adding an element of adventure to what is also a botanical and wildlife experience. The turquoise pool at the base is one of the most photogenic natural swimming spots in the Ghats.

The Devkund area is part of the larger Kolad adventure tourism zone, which has also become famous for white-water rafting on the Kundalika River below the falls. The combination of trekking to the falls and rafting back on the river is one of Maharashtra's most popular adventure packages. The forest on the approach trek is rich in the endemic biodiversity of the coastal Western Ghats — the density of endemic orchids, frogs, and reptiles along the trail rivals designated protected areas.

August–October — post-monsoon for accessible trek and excellent water; the pool colour is most vivid in October–November.

💡 Pro tip

The jade pool at the base is the compositional centrepiece — shoot from the south bank to capture both the falls and pool in a single wide-angle frame.
