About Bap Teng Kang Waterfall
Bap Teng Kang Waterfall near the Ziro Valley in Lower Subansiri district is a pristine cascade set within a UNESCO Potential World Heritage Site landscape of extraordinary cultural and natural value. The Apatani people's rice paddy and pine forest mosaic around Ziro Valley is one of northeast India's most celebrated indigenous agricultural systems, and the waterfall tumbles through the forested margin of this unique landscape.
The Ziro Valley is most famous as the setting of the Ziro Music Festival each September, which draws musicians and visitors from across India to this remote Arunachal valley. Bap Teng Kang Waterfall is a short trek from the festival grounds and has become a popular excursion for festival attendees, who arrive to find the falls at peak volume in the post-monsoon season. The surrounding forest is ecologically intact and provides habitat for several species of large mammals including tigers and elephants.
September–October coincides with the Ziro Music Festival for a unique experience of culture and nature together.
The pine-forested hillside above the falls creates a dramatic green backdrop. Include Apatani rice paddies in a wide-angle shot for cultural context.
