About Mollem Rainforest

Mollem National Park is the living forest heart of Goa, a remnant of the ancient Western Ghats tropical rainforest that once blanketed the entire coastline. The 12th-century Tambdi Surla Mahadev temple — the oldest surviving temple in Goa, built in basalt — stands deep within the forest, a testament to centuries of human reverence for this landscape. Mollem is one of the more reliable locations in Goa to observe the black panther, the melanistic form of the Indian leopard that haunts these dark rainforests.
