About Manas Evergreen Forest

Manas National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where sub-Himalayan bhabar grasslands transition into moist semi-evergreen forest at the foot of the Bhutan Himalayas, bisected by the Manas River. The park protects the full spectrum of floodplain biodiversity from the Brahmaputra catchment, including species found nowhere else such as the golden langur and hispid hare. After decades of conflict-related devastation, Manas has staged one of conservation's great comebacks, with rhino and tiger populations recovering under intense protection effort.
